Want to get away from the real world? This just may be just the place.
If you’ve come to the decision that you want to vacation in Xcalak, we think you might consider a stay at Las Palmas. While in a rustic setting, Las Palmas, named for the many palm trees on the property, is a 3-bedroom, 3-bath eco-friendly beach front villa with some features you might not expect.
The Villa at Las Palmas
At Las Palmas, you can swim, snorkle or dive in your front yard. A local fisherman and his wife live on the property and they will gladly help out around the house in any way they can. Despite the pristine setting, guests at Las Palmas can enjoy some surprising elements of modern life we’ve all become so accustomed to. The villa offers 24-hour electricity, satellite TV and Internet access. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator with freezer plus a gas stove and oven. There is a coffee maker and plenty of glasses, plates, dishes, flatware, pots, pans, knives, etc. You will find a base for dispensing 5-gallon jugs of water and there’s a blender for mixing up a batch of your frozen drink of choice!
The owners try to keep the kitchen stocked with some cooking basics but to be perfectly honest; you should plan on bringing any kitchen supplies that you think you will need.
The bathrooms have recently been up-graded and at the same time the plumbing was being improved, a washing machine was added to the property.
The house is not air conditioned but there are ceiling fans and fortunately, the ocean breezes usually keep the entire house comfortable without their use. If you’re mindful not to leave lights or an appliance on when not in use, you should have all the power that you need.
The Beach at Las Palmas
In addition to the privacy, the things that first attracts most people to this property are the beach and the water. From morning till night, the view outside the front door is just amazing.
The Las Palmas beach is a perfect spot to sit in the sun or shade and read a book or watch the birds while they fish or simply contemplate life. And the night sky reveals more stars than you dreamed possible.
Along with fishing, there is good snorkeling and diving right out the front door. In fact, you can snorkel for conch or lobster within 100 yards of the shore.
We think you’ll find Las Palmas very comfortable, with many amenities you would not expect to find in this off-the-beaten-track location. You’ll have the best of both worlds in this remote area: pristine beauty, rustic charm, and yet modern comforts of home.
The owners offer suggestions or even help set up local contacts for diving, fishing and bird watching tours as well as provide you with directions to the best grocery shopping on the drive down.
